A picnic concert organizer Town mayor Clr Alison Gerrard is to bring all generations together at Verdin Park.
For the case of band and musicians, who for July 9 has been penciled in to provide music for entertainment is looking for.
She said, “It’s got to have a Last Night of the Proms feel – brass band and classical but upbeat and cheerful, music that people can sway along to”.
“I wanted to do something a bit different, not a rock concert but something a bit more classical – something for the older generation as well as for families.
“I hope people will bring a picnic, a bottle of wine and a blanket.”
Chris Park bandstand was encouraged by her mayoral year is the most green areas Northwich want.
She said, “Originally I was thinking of an afternoon tea dance at Verdin Park – I wanted something to happen at Verdin because it doesn’t get used as much”.
“Then I thought of the bandstand and it started from that.
“It’s about putting a bit of life back in these places and creating events where whole families can get out – this will also stop the element you don’t want using the park.
“Unless we get this buzz going on, Northwich is going to die.”
