Last Night Of The Proms event is going on Northwich park

Last Night Of The Proms event is going on Northwich park in this summer.

A picnic concert organizer Town mayor Clr Alison Gerrard is to bring all generations together at Verdin Park.

She is founding for this event for more bands and musicians to provide the musical entertainment, which has been pencilled in for July 9.

She said, “It’s got to have a Last Night of the Proms feel – brass band and classical but upbeat and cheerful, music that people can sway along to".

“I wanted to do something a bit different, not a rock concert but something a bit more classical – something for the older generation as well as for families.

“I hope people will bring a picnic, a bottle of wine and a blanket.”

Clr Gerrard was encouraged by the bandstand at the Park, during her mayoral year and is the most green areas Northwich want to.

She said, “Originally I was thinking of an afternoon tea dance at Verdin Park – I wanted something to happen at Verdin because it doesn’t get used as much”.

“Then I thought of the bandstand and it started from that.

“It’s about putting a bit of life back in these places and creating events where whole families can get out – this will also stop the element you don’t want using the park.

“Unless we get this buzz going on, Northwich is going to die.”
